Approach your resumé summary the same way you would approach a topic paragraph in an essay. Choose three concrete details to highlight — and quantify — throughout your resumé.
It’s okay if you’re far removed from English course work. Just pick three strengths to showcase throughout your resumé. Will you highlight your leadership, business strategy, policy implementation, training and development, etc.?
The key is to make sure you quantify your choices in the accomplishments portion of your resumé. If your summary appears disconnected from the rest of your resumé, that summary — and you as a candidate — will seem inauthentic.
As a bonus, if you utilize this method, you will also show your ability to organize your thoughts and deliver a document that has direction. And there you go — three is the magic number.
